Hi,
I am new to the forum and would like to resolve my issue of night sweating.
This started part way thru my 6 BCG instillations.
My surgeon offered no advice.
As it turned out I needn’t have had the BCG treatment as a change in Urologist revealed an aggression tumour and I subsequently had my bladder and prostate removed.
I would dearly like to find a reason and solution for my problem. It seems that it is not a case of night sweats being unheard off, as it is listed as a known symptom on a number of medical websites.
Can other members please offer a solution.
I have just spent a week in hospital and underwent multiple blood tests, CT and PET scan, and a heart echo test. I am eagerly awaiting the results.
Thank you for your feedback.
PS, The other issue that I have recently heard about is the need for hormone replacement once the prostate is remove. It this the case ?
Thank you, Barry
Hi Barry, welcome to this friendly forum. I had the full course of 27 BCG without any night sweats, however hopefully there will be others along soon who can share common experiences. We all seem to react differently to treatments, but the main thing is that you get to that magic place....all clear of cancer. It sounds like you have achieved that after your surgery. I hope the hospital tests will throw some light on your problem. Very best wishes Hx
Hi
Thank you for your reply. At this stage my oncologist says I am clean. He has seen the PET scan which was good. I will see him for the 3rd time in May to talk more about my latest scan. If I have nothing but night sweats I should perhaps think myself lucky…. the other options aren’t so good. Thanks again, Barry
Hi Barry,Welcome to this friendly group.Hopefully someone here will be along who can help regarding the night sweats.Have you tried typing night sweats into the search box ? There are a lot of references. You can get night sweats if you have an underlying infection but it might be side effects or something to do with the prostate.May be your test results will provide the answer. How long ago did you have your surgery ? There are few men on here who have had bladder removal.Best wishes Jane x
Hi bazzz
As you’ve had your prostate removed, you might find it helpful to join the prostate group and pose your question there and ask too about hormone replacement therapy. These topics are often discussed in that group and this is the link-
My father in law had his bladder and prostate removed as he had 2 separate cancers, but does not take hormone replacement therapy-not even when he was initially diagnosed. However, they are a very knowledgeable group in the prostate cancer group and may have some advice for you.
