Hello everyone, all of a sudden I’m getting a sharp pain in the right side of my stomach, hurts when I’m sitting g down..when I take a deep breath… any ideas Nigel
Hello Rob/Nigel,
I hope a painkiller will give some relief. When I have a sudden pain of that sort, I think hard about what I've eaten - anything unusual, of marginal shelf life or not prepared in known clean conditions may be suspected as a possible cause. Have you lifted something or done anything unusual in terms of awkward movements e.g. getting into a Ferrari? Such things can pull muscles or strain ligaments unless you are a gymnast. Have you had pain in the same area before? Is the area painful in other positions or when you investigate with light pressure? Do you feel unwell? Depending on severity and feeling unwell, call a doctor or dial 111 if in any doubt or if the pain gets worse. I'm not a doctor but that's how I proceed with these things which, annoyingly, seem to occur more often with advancing years. Good luck!
Ray
Hi Nigel,Sorry you have stomach pain.Ray has given you some good advice.I would add making a note of the type of pain and how often you are getting it.I always used to take mum’s temperature, pulse and blood pressure before calling anyone medical. If you feel unwell it’s always useful to have the info to hand if you need to phone anyone or go to A & E.I hope it goes off soon.Take care Jane x
Hi Nigel. Ray and Jane have you pretty sound advice already. The only thing I would add is if it hurts when you move or take a deep breath, it’s more likely to be musculoskeletal so should improve with painkillers/ anti inflammatory medication such as Brufen, unless there are contraindications. Obviously without examining you, one can never be sure so if there is any doubt, or get worse/ have other symptoms then go to A/E for a full checkup. Best of luck.
Evening everyone, thank you all for your input… just back from A/E a long evening.
gave me a examination which was a bit sore, took bloods and urine which all came back ok.
asked me load of questions in regards BCG treatment… the upshot of it all was they couldn’t see anything of concern so sent me home. Have to keep taking pain killers.. if the pain gets worse or doesn’t seem to be getting better after 3-4 days then go back…. Maybe a pulled muscle… did lift a few suitcases into the cab today…the wife went mad…she’s my rock…it was her first day back at work today….anyway..you can’t put a price on peace of mind..
I think you three pretty much nailed it…so thank you again..
BCG#5 tomorrow… and a day in bed for me… I think the rest will do me good..
love to all
Nigel
Hopeful, yes it is sore when I take a deep breath…you guys are good…
