Hi all, I’d be would be grateful for any suggestions or recommendations for travel insurers, that are sympathetic to cancer patients, if there are such things.
Getting my biopsy results next week after having a TURBT 3 weeks ago. Have fingers crossed for a positive outcome that will allow me to go on a holiday that was booked early this year.
Thank you
Jeff.
Hi Peleton and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm not a member of this group, but your subject title caught my eye.
Unfortunately, it can be more difficult to find travel insurance when you've had a cancer diagnosis so can I recommend that you join us over in the travel insurance group where you'll find recommendations from others who have been successful. Once you've joined look for the thread called 'recommended travel insurance' as this is where the majority of recommendations are.
Most people say that it's best to phone the insurance companies rather than try and do online quotes as often at the end of the online quote it will tell you to phone the company and you'll then have to go through all the information again. Also, sometimes the broker can refer to the underwriters to see if they would provide cover when an online quote might just give you a straight refusal.
I do hope that you can get insurance and that you have a lovely holiday.
Fingers crossed for your biopsy results Peleton. Going on holiday sounds just the ticket. Others on this site have recently been chatting about holiday insurance, I think you'll get some reliable recommendations. H x
Hi latchbrook, thank you so much for your reply and the information. As a newbie I didn’t even realise that there was a travel insurance group. I’ll be sure to join it and hopefully get some good advice and guidance.
Thank you, take care.
Hi herothedog, thank you so much for your reply and kind words. Fingers crossed the results go in my favour and I can get away on my cruise.
Thank you, take care.
Since my diagnosis, I have used insurancewith.com who have a sensible questionnaire & reasonable quotes. Bear in mind though that if you are waiting for or undergoing treatment, you may find it difficult to get cover. I had a holiday booked when I was diagnosed & when I'd got my TURBT results, I cancelled the holiday in anticipation of undergoing treatment, while that was still an economic option. As things turned out, treatment hadn't started by then so I could have gone, but my existing insurance probably wouldn't have covered me & I don't think I'd have enjoyed it.
Hi Teasswill, thank you so much for your reply. It’s an awkward situation isn’t it waiting for results so you can complete the insurance quote but not knowing if the results will even allow you to go on holiday anyway!!
Still, there are far more patients a lot worse off than me so I’ll just take what comes.
J.
