Well up to now my sister has postedn my behalf
Re: Turbt procedure I underwent on Friday it went well epidural by choice good move for me disappointed it was going to be an overnight stay as I had a"7day" catheter in situe but hrs later discharged to return in 7 to be removed.
My question I find I get spasmodic cramps thru out the day only lasting seconds but quite uncomfortable. Is this the norm?just have to wait and it passes. The district nurse advice was "pull yourself together it's only pain!" Apparently the bladder trying to reject the catheter? Any tips how to cope painkillers not working.
On the bright side ventured out this morning for a walkhhaving to walk on tiptoes to stop the pain got few odd looks but really enjoyed it now knackered feet up time
How rotten for you. Sounds reasonable that bladder is trying to eject the catheter. May also be related to bladder filling & urine trying to get out. Not a pleasant remark from District Nurse - pain level varies from person to person. My advice would be try to distract yourself so you are not waiting, anticipating & tensing against the pain. Practice deep breathing ready for when a spasm occurs. Depending how the catheter is attached to a bag, sometimes taping it in place so it doesn't move around so much may help. Count down the days to removal! Best wishes.
Many thanks nice to know its 'a normal reaction" my pain threasehold is quite good usually but this is something new have taped bag up and it's stable. It is quite amusing in one way when it starts I automatically raise my feet or onto my toes and it helps very weird!
Take care hope you are having this beautiful weather we are having in Wales today!
Hi Sunshine forever, I think most people hate having a catheter in, I only had mine in overnight and I was desperate for it to come out. What a mean old district nurse, I wonder if she'd be so dismissive if it was her pain? I reckon she's in the wrong job. Like Teasswiill said count down the days...only 3 more to go? Wishing you good biopsy results. Hx
