Has anyone got a problem with reacuring uti,s after a radical cystectomy last September
Hi Phmy,Sorry to hear you are getting infections.Do you have a stoma ? Do you know whether your samples grow the same bacteria each time ? Some of the rarer bacteria are harder to treat.Hopefully someone here will be able to advise.I’ve been infection free since the cystectomy but know that you can get repeat infections after one.Best wishes Jane
Hi
I just wondered if you have actually had tests to confirm you have a uti? Everyone I know who has had their bladder removed and has an urostomy, including me, has complaints about strong smelling urine. But I’ve never personally had a uti. I’ve always assumed that the smell is exacerbated by the fact of how the stoma is made from part of the bowel but I don’t actually know. However, I do know a lot of people with a urostomy and the strong smell is something I hear from everyone.

Yes, a very good point Jane! I notice the smell is much weaker and not noticeable with the mucous cleared out and I’ve drunk lots of water.

I’ve learned stuff I never knew I’d need to know!
