Hello,
This might seem trivial, but I'm really struggling with finding the right clothes to wear. My surgery was 2 months ago. I've been living in warm climates most of my life, so don't have much to wear for cold weather and what I had I cannot wear anymore. I find trousers very uncomfortable to wear with a bag, even baggy ones. How is every one coping with clothes? Any recommendations for winter shopping? I was thinking dresses, leg warmers, or dungarees maybe...
Thank you
Bernadette
Hi Bernadette,I find tunic tops are comfy and they look good over the stoma. Some are long enough to wear as a short dress.I still wear trousers as long as the waist is softer.Dresses and skirts are fine.My sister works in a shop that sells clothes and was helping a lady with a stoma choose an outfit recently. When I went for a scan the radiographers were saying a lot of people with stomas like dungarees.I did have a pair when I was younger so perhaps I should get some more. How have you been since your surgery ? love Jane xx
I ended up buying Enzo brand as my 1st ones...was not sure if I would get on with them so kept to cheaper ones...£19.99 (Amazon) ..found they were fine so bought extra pair. Mainly denim/cotton around in mens but a massive variety in pattern, colour and style for women online.
Hi, yes I loved wearing dungarees when I was in my 20's, and apparently it is becoming trendy ok ;-). I'm doing ok physically, although I still find the bags really annoying. Emotionally, I'm all over the place some days and then bright and shine the next... Thank you for asking :-). What about you?
Hi Bernadette,
I'm doing fine just in my Mancini, haven’t tried dungarees myself as I’d look like Fred west on crack
On a more serious note, I find most trousers and joggers comfortable just tuck the bag in as best as possible and if you wear belts adjust them to suit, I often put the buckle slightly to the left x

The thing that bothers me with trousers is not really the elastic band, but more the fact that when sitting down, it either cuts the bag in two or the bag is n the wrong place, and I keep fidling with it. I would rather prefer to wear dresses but can't find anything suitable or that I like. Even dungarees would have to be really baggy. The whole thing just annoys me still...I always hated tight clothes, belts or bras, and this thing hanging of my belly really irritates me, even more so knowing that I have no choice in the matter... sorry ranting a bit,,,
