  • Hi I'm 43 apparently rare someone of my age having bladder cancer  I've had surgery 4 weeks ago to remove multiple tumours. Though now been advised to have my bladder removed as they suspect the cancer will return and potentially spread, and now just awaiting a further consultation to confirm the op. Any chaps similar age going through the same?
  • Hi and welcome to the group, although sorry you find yourself here. Bladder cancer was once regarded as an older persons disease, but we see many younger people here, so you are not alone. Have you been given a stage and grade of your cancer?  Bladder removal is always put on the table but many of us have had alternative treatments. If it does come to removal, then many here have been through this and will be able to offer advice and support. Any questions, please ask. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Hello David Sorry To Hear Of Your Prognosis At Your Young Age . I Am 63 And Was Diagnosed With BC 5 Years Ago And Was Like A Rabbit In Headlights As I Had Never Been In Hospital For Anything Up To Then And Pride Myself On My Health Non Smoker Ect. Anyway I Chose The Curative Option Chemotherapy / Radiotherapy And It Was A Great Success However In The Last Few Months Following A TURBT Biopsy A Recurrence Was Found And I Am Scheduled In For A Radical Cystectomy On The 28 Th. Of This Month Very Daunting However Am Pragmatic About It And Hopefully Get Rid Once And For All . I Sincerely Hope Your Journey Through This Is Not Too Bumpy And Wish You All The Very Best Granted Its Not A Walk In The Park For Sure But Forums Like This Can Support / Uplift . Take Care L .

  • Hi formermember,
I’m 12 years older than you and not going through the same as you now, but did last year.

Had my bladder removed and very glad I did because a) bladder cancer does tend to return and b) my life is hardly any different to before.
I’m lucky in that I had a Neo Bladder and apart from setting an alarm twice a night to go to the loo, literally nothing else in my life has changed.

    any questions, please ask.

    Cheers,
    Chasam
