I'm starting my first chemotherapy next week & would like to buy a blood pressure monitor. Cost is not an issue.
I'm parrticularly interested in one that is the most accurate for home use & am interested if anyone else has a monitor & how the results compare to the GP/hospital equipment.
Hi Coojee,I bought a blood pressure monitor in Lidl several years ago.It think it was £30.I’ve found it accurate with the readings matching those taken by dr/paramedics on theirs. The gp suggested I get one to check my mothers blood pressure as she suffers from hypertension. Our health centre wants all the patients to buy their own machines and deliver results to them.Jane x
Hi Coojee, mine came from a special offer at a David Lloyd Pharmacy years ago. Works fine. My GP always asks me to do a week's monitoring every year as I have high blood pressure (it's a family thing). Seems happy with my submitted results. Good luck with next week's chemo. Hope you and your wife will treat yourselves to cake or chocolate or ready-meals or box-sets (what ever lifts your hearts) to cheer you through the treatment. xxx
I think it is useful to have a blood pressure monitor.I used to do mum’s observations before phoning 111/dr/ambulance.We used to use the old hand pumped machines when I was nursing.I remember a friend telling me that he had taken the bp reading of a fellow student nurse and found it was abnormally high. The tutor was rather dismissive and told him to repeat it as he had obviously made a mistake. He took it again and got the same reading. The tutor then took the bp herself twice and the student nurse was sent immediately to occupational health. He turned out to have dangerously high blood pressure and was put on anti hypertensive medication by his gp.He was only in his early 20’s.Jane x
Thank you.
I've just ordered a Withings one. We have their scales so I thought it would be handy to have the records in the same app.
