Hello all. I had a TURBT 10 days ago and have just been told my results are Ta grade 2 (high grade as they divide grade 2 into high and low). I am now going to have a 6 week course of epirubicin (which my hospital use instead of MMC) - waiting for consultant appointment just to confirm this as results came from my very helpful CNS.   Whilst waiting for the results it has been so helpful to read all of the threads on here so a huge thanks to all posters.  Fingers crossed this treatment does the trick but even if it doesn’t I know from this board that there are still many options.

Does anyone know how long they wait post TURBT before starting the instillations? I have to keep my stent (put in due to tumour position) in until the course has finished so am keen to get on with it!

  • Hello Clifton1973 and welcome to the group. I am sure you will get lots of support and help here as you go forward with your treatment. We know how anxious the waiting can be. It usually takes about 6 weeks post TURBT before any treatment starts, but can vary. They like to let the wound heal first. Always someone about on here to answer any questions, or just talk. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

    Thanks Rily

  • Hi Clinton1973, my diagnosis was T1 Grade 2 high grade which meant BCG rather than MMC. I am about to have last 3 of 27 BCG doses and currently all clear hooray! But having had many lower grade reoccurrences I have wondered about epirubicin as a fall back strategy. Let us know how you get on? In the meantime hope you will enjoy having 5 treatment free weeks in this lovely summer. Very best wishes x
