My wife has recently been diagnosed with cervical cancer with complications of kidney failure and has 2 nephrostomy bags attached.
The issue we are having is the night time bags while sleeping.
Most nights the connection comes loose soaking the bed and resulting in changing bedsheets every night.
The connection seems to fall out very easily.
Has anybody any suggestions or tips to stop this occurring.
I believe it is a c'mon issue with night bags.buy if anybody can help I would be most grateful.
Hello and welcome to the group, although sorry to hear of your wife's nephrostomy problems. I can't help as no experience of this, but hopefully someone will be along to advise. Could I also suggest you post in he Kidney Cancer Group where others will have experience of this and will give you a wider audience to help. Best wishes.
I had a nephrostomy bag for about a year. I found that I didn't need a night bag, but I would suggest getting in touch with your wife's clinical nurse, who could probably get you in touch with a urinary diversion team. Plently of products our there to help along with useful tips and the team are usually a great help.
sorry to hear of your distress over the night bags, my husband hasn’t come across this problem, (he has bladder cancer 4 & CKD,has bilateral Nephrostomies)his day bags are connected to his night bags which are on a frame outside the bed, there are different suppliers of Nephrostomies bags maybe the day bag & night bag are not compatible & that’s why they are leaking past the connectors,my husband suppliers Nightingales are excellent. hope your DN can help.
Best wishes hope all goes well xx
