Hi all my husband had a routine check 4 weeks ago and was found to have the deaded red patches. He finally went in today for a rigid cystoscopy for biopsies. He is doing ok but the consultant took biopsies and also some diathermy. Should I read more in to the diathermy or do you think it was a just in case? He has had 3 years bcg . 4 years with no a single reaccurance just seem like a bolt from the blue the red patches. X git to wait 2- 3 weeks for the results. Its going to be a very long 3 weeks. Any advice would be most helpful to me at this time.

Hi Pip115, I don't know the answers ref diathermy, but 2-3 weeks for biopsy results seems long to me. At my hospital NHS UK, biopsy results are through in a week. I usually phone my CNS for the results which saves waiting for appointment with a consultant. Many others on here have reported red patches and these have generally been inflammation from treatments. Fingers crossed for your husband. x
Thankyou all for responding so quick. 3 weeks is a long time. My husbands cancer nurse has retired so we are left with no point of contact or help. Thats why I am so glad I joined the group I get so much more information from you guys than I ever had from anyone else. Hopefully the patches will be inflammation and not a reaccurance. I will post back with more questions im sure of that. X love to you all and thanks again. Xxx
Sometimes you cant help but fear the worst but it is reassuring to know that this is a routine thing they do when taking biopsies when hubby told me they had done diathermy I instantly thought it was because they had to not because it was something they did.. They told him yesterday he had to have a CT scan as well which made me panic. But he hasn't had one since his diagnosis in 2017. So he is due one. You al have been so helpful. Its the waiting for results now which is really tough. Hopefully everything will be OK. love to all
Hi Pip115,
I always get diathermied, I find it to be brutal .
Same happened to me when my lovely nurse retired. I was left with a real useless thing who told me that I was costing the NHS a fortune. I changed trusts so I didn't have to keep that horror show in a job.
Hopefully you wont have to wait too long, the waiting can be the absolute worst.
Take care x
Hi all. Its been a good few months since my husband had his routine cystoscopy and they found the dreaded red patches. He had biopsies and diathermy done on the 28th of last month. Its been 3 weeks of hell stress and worry waiting for results. Eventually my hubby couldn't take anymore and rang today. To chase the results. Finally someone rang back and the fantsstic news that there is no sign of cancer. OMG what a relief. My husband and I just broke down in tears. He's just got to have regular cystoscopies.to keep a close eye in him. Thankyou all so so much for being there. You made me see there could be light and there was. Fingers crossed everything continues in the same way. My heartfelt thanks to all who responded to me. Love to all. Xxx
Hooray,I’m very happy for your husband,it must be a huge relief for you both.Love & best wishes Jane xx
