I am about to start chemotherapy for bladder cancer. I have two dogs and am wondering if they can live at home with me while all this is going on. Has anyone got any experience of this?
Hi Dolyrocket. I had a big dog when I was going through chemo. I found it to be an advantage as I had to take her out each day for exercise even when I didn't feel like it. When having chemo, you need to take extra care about hygiene in general. With pets, you need to take extra care as regards hygiene. Plenty of handwashing etc. Don't let them lick your face. No scratching. When I was poop picking up, I carried a small bottle of hand sanitiser to clean my hands. When you start chemo, the nurses will give you lots of information about personal care which is especially important in these covid times. Best wishes.
Rily. thank you so much. That's what I thought but I wanted to know what others had done. Keep well!
Dolyrocket
