Hi all.
Is it normal to be completely exhausted 3 weeks after TURBT?
By mid afternoon I'm so tired it's an effort to lift my arms or walk. I tried taking the dogs out to wake me up but I honestly thought I was gonna be stuck over the fields because I was too exhausted to walk back with them.
Is it just the anxiety of not knowing as I am still waiting for my CTU and biopsy results (I do not feel anxious) or have I just been doing too much? It's been a roller coaster few weeks. From urine sample at GP surgery to the TURBT was only 3 weeks so only been 5 weeks since diagnosis.
Any advice from those that have experienced this would be welcome. X
Sending love to all.
Hi Aprildaisies75. I had 3 TURBTs and was back to normal after a few days, and most people recover within a couple of weeks. We do know that some people have lingering problems because the anaesthetic does not agree with them. Remember you have an open wound inside you which takes time to heal up to 6 weeks and doing too much too soon can have adverse affects. As always if you have concerns, then have a word with your GP. Your GP should have been sent records of your treatment. Try keeping a diary of how you are feeling. It always helps to have something to refer back to when talking to the medics. Best wishes.
Hi rily, thanks for the advice/support
I have mentioned the pain and exhaustion to the GP amd had my urine tested, there is no infection and they felt my recovery was where it should be at this stage.
My husband thinks I've been doing too much since the TURBT and I have to admit while I've just been pottering about the house and garden to keep my mind off the pending biopsy and CTU results i have not really been sitting down all day until he gets home.
Maybe I just need to remind myself that I am still healing as you say, and actually rest for a couple.of days.

A balanced diet, preferably Mediterranean (lots of colours) . Light exercise and plenty of rest. You will get there. Best wishes.
Hi,It’s easy to underestimate how exhausting having procedures and waiting for results can be,especially in a short time period.I hope you will have some rest time.Love Jane xx
Hi winkers60
I'm under strict instructions from hubby to rest tomorrow and see if that improves the symptoms.
I think i have definitely under estimated to time my body needs to recover. X

Hi Aprildaisies75,
I'm very slow at recovering & often don't do hardly anything for an entire week after a TURBT, yet normally I can't sit still. I feel that once I've had a shower that's it for the day, other than a bit of walking around the home for exercise that's my limit. Even a walk in to another room can sometimes make me feel so exhausted I could scream my head off. Also I think that the stress of it all can exhaust you.
All the best to you x
Hi blanket, I thought it was just anxiety at first, but now I am so exhausted even sleep isn't helping.
Going to take it much much easier this week and see how things go. Should be getting results back early next week.... anything could happen...

Hi, another thing to consider is this: if you have lost some blood as a result of the cancer and or the treatment your haemoglobin levels might be down, a simple blood test from the GP should show this up. Hope you feel better soon,
Denby
Hi Denby
I hope you're well....
I have taken life at a much lower pace today and while I still feel exhausted it's not as bad as last few days, so maybe I do just need to be kinder to myself and stop expecting too much from myself. (Not something I'm very good at). Ha
I have to take another urine sample to the GP on Thursday so I will raise my concerns with them again then. Cross everything my case is discussed at MDT this week..... hopefully that will help if I finally have answers.
Sending love
Thanks Aprildaisies75. yes, no complaints atm thanks. I'm married to one like you so I know what it's like, he's guilty every time he sits down...
The other thing is, you may not be aware [supermarkets don't want you to be..] that 'regular' food is significantly nutritionally deficient. This is because the use of artificial fertiliser, [which farmers are driven to by supermarket limits on what they will pay the farmers] messes up the soil so that all the produce has less micronutrients such as minerals in it. This of course also applies to the feed used to raise dairy or meat animals. So when your body is trying to recover from a necessary assault, you may find quality supplements helpful, [always check with your pharmacist] and if you can afford it, switch as much as possible of your diet to organic which has the full amount of nutrients. Sadly you are unlikely to see sudden improvements from these changes, as if you have been eating standard stuff for a long time it will take a while to rebuild your body's nutrients. But the sooner you start the sooner you stand to catch up. BTW zinc shortage is common and affects mood as well as most other things.
very best wishes, Denby
