I had my first long day chemo session on wednesday, cisplstin and gemcitabine which went fine, on thursday morning 5am stomache was a bit upset but no nausea or sickness temp ok so had a tea, biscuit and anti sick tablet, was fine restnof day.

Today same thing happened, but this afternoon my legs and ankles are swollen so i have them up on recliner, phoned onclogy nurses for advice but answer machine left message but they not phoned me back and advice? Should I phone rapid response as it not an emergency?

Appreiciate any advice x

  • Hi . Chemo can have many varying side effects. When I was having this treatment I had a 24 hour helpline number in my chemo record book to call if I had any concerns. This service may have been reduced now because nurses have been redirected to covid duties, so may not be of much help. If you are concerned and can't contact anyone, it might be an idea to call NHS 111 just for advice and peace of mind. Keep us posted. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • I.have no experience of chemo but if you feel anxious definitely call NHS 111. It’s their job to answer these kinds of worries. Hope you feel better soon, x

  • Help Amelia,

i had same chemo as you with little or no side effects. Sorry to hear about your swollen legs and ankles. Like Rily I had an emergency number. Try 111, your GP or the treatment centre where you had your Chemo. Good luck Garviv
