Hi,

I had the RC on 19th March and had a few rough days in hospital mainly sickness from morphine, All went well with the operation and scar is healing well, Stoma nurses have been brilliant throughout and I have found bag changing really easy, I have purchased several bag covers which hide the bags. I see the stoma nurse for a check up next week, the stoma looks healthy and slight redness around it not nothing serious, I was put in touch with Securicare to order my supplies, really helpful and have placed my first order with them.

I have recently experienced foot pain and now calf pain in one leg, has anyone else had this post surgery?

The calf is not swollen or hot and I was advised to wear surgical stockings and raise the leg and keep an eye on it.

I made the decision to have the stoma over Neo bladder and am pleased with the decision.

stay safe everyone and thanks for your help and advice pre-op.

  • Hi bewildered 50, you sound to be doing so well recovering from surgery, managing the stoma when it is such early days since your big op. I think you are right to be vigilant about leg pain though of course after a long procedure all sorts of cramps, aches and pains can emerge and be of no serious concern. Definitely wear the stocking. If pain persists I think I'd want to see a medic. Wishing you a speedy recovery. xx

  • Hi Bewildered 50

I made the same choice as you and am glad I did

I do hope your leg is sorted soon

  • Always worth checking if you could be magnesium deficient, as this can cause muscle aches and pains and/or restless legs. Should the medics/your pharmacist agree for you to try magnesium supplements, be sure to get magnesium Citrate not carbonate, it works better.
