Just received a letter from Matt and Robert(honest as the day is long Jenrick) yes the same fellow who when the latest lockdown was announced went on television and got the restrictions all wrong. Anyway I am vulnerable again but do not have to totally bury myself away. I can walk the chocolate Labrador every morning for an hour but cannot see my grandchildren. Oh well looking forward to the vitamin D supplements from Boris and co. Sunny today if a little breezy today in Walton Le dale. Marinating chicken harissa for our meal tonight with two glasses of Timothy Taylor’s beer. Stay safe everyone. Garviv
Hi Garviv. Good to know the powers that be are concerned about you. Never had chicken harissa, but the beer sounds good. I've spent the morning at the scrapyard sourcing a battery for my daughter's car. No matter how old they are, they can't do without their old dad. Guess who paid. I though my days of smelling of old motor oil were over, but I suppose these things keep me active. Best wishes.
Takes me back to lying in a dusty scrapyard under the front of an old Escort getting the alternator off [only 3 bolts I recall and were the wires push-fit??] to place it on our almost equally old car for £25, successfully. Journey home much relieved as with a flat battery not charging we had not dared switch off since getting a bump start... I did the job as I could better wriggle under than Mr D. Must have been pushing 25 years ago. That car used to get going on winter mornings with the aid of a hairdryer on an extension lead stuck up its air intake...Thank heavens for Motability, I wouldn't know where much was under the current Citroen bonnet. Happy days,

In similar vein, I can still be found lying on my side, tinkering with my Nanni's dipstick making sure she's properly lubricated. After that, there's the constant need to check that her stern gland is packed with grease before her shaft starts spinning.
Oh, just realised how that sounds - I am referring to my boat, of course!

I may appear to be listening but in my head I'm all at sea.
The lingo didn't faze me, only as it's just like our old friend's boat...Denby
