I have had bladder problems since 2015. I have to self catheterise severaln times a day as it will not empty properly. Have had numerous test including two cyscoscopys. I recently had a ridged cyscoscopy and was told they found superficial cancer in my bladder. Due to lockdown and being unable to attend a face to face consultation I was told over the phone.  The consultant said the are happy that that they removed  it. I  was fine with this to begin with but I am starting to get concerned and have questions to ask. I am due a follow up cyscoscopy in July. Can someone please tell me what I can expect in my July appointment.

  • Hi . Firstly let me welcome you to the community and our group. At your recent rigid cystoscopy we can only assume they have removed your superficial tumours. In many cases of superficial, there may be no further treatment needed. If they offered no further treatment, it sounds as though your doctors think they have done enough to remove it. As bladder cancer is known for coming back, they keep a close eye on us. If your July appointment is a flexible cystoscopy they will just be looking to check there is nothing further to worry about. If they do identify anything, they will arrange to deal with it. Unfortunately, because of the current situation, these phone consultations are difficult to understand as much as face to face and usually leave many questions. When you have your flexi, you will be able to get more answers. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Hello. er166,

i had a superficial tumour removed last year which was followed by a flexible cystoscopy just before lockdown. Thankfully all clear but due another flexible cystoscopy in July to keep a watchful eEye Eye on things. Good sign if Consultant thinks they have removed tumour.

    Good luck
