Hi there, I had a TURBT two weeks ago, and as I have always exercised using weights (BodyPump) I am wondering when it would be safe to do a full workout via online exercise programs? I did a short upper body workout yesterday with no ill effects. What are others experiences with exercise please?
Hi . It can take up to 6 weeks for your wound to heal. General advice is do nothing for the first 2 weeks and then very gradually build up your exercises over the following 4 weeks. Nothing too strenuous to begin with. There is a chance you may aggravate the wound if you do too much too soon. Best wishes.

Be careful. I have had six Turbt procedures ( a mixture of rigid and flexible) I got a bit blasé on one of my flexible cystoscopies. Feeling OK I went and played a round of golf the following day. One day later I experienced bleeding when I went to pee. Following test at GP’s he said no infection was present. I rang my McMillan cancer nurse at the Hospital. She gave me a mild rollicking and explained I should take it easy for two weeks. I did and problem ceased. Listen to Rily who told me exactly what he has just posted. My advice take it easy.

Hi,I would also say be cautious.I had a bladder haemorrhage exactly a month after a Turbt and ended up being seen in hospital.Luckily I was fine after rest and antibiotics but it was a scary experience. After that I was always more careful for a month to 6 weeks after a turbt and tried to avoid too much heavy lifting, bending or stretching.Take care,Love Jane xx
Thanks very much to all of you who got back to me regarding exercise. I will certainly take care with the exercise, I am walking a bit every day, so that should keep legs strong, but I am anxious not to lose the strength in my upper body which I have built up with many years of lifting weights! However, I will stick to light weights and will not do anything drastic for the next few weeks! Thanks again.
Good luck,I think it’s better to be safe than sorry although it’s frustrating.Love Jane xx
