Hello fellow BC people. I managed last Monday to have a flexible cystoscopy albeit it should have been completed in January. All clear thank goodness but a further check required in four months time. The following day the shut down begun.I feel for all those cancer patients who have had appointments and procedures cancelled because of staff shortages during this dreadful time. Ten days on and the governments record on testing, provision of PPE for our wonderful NHS staff and ventilators for needy patients is abysmal. The hypocrisy from Ministers and the clown we have for PM who exulted us all to social distance whilst bragging about shaking hands with Nurses and Health workers beggars belief and guess what he and Matt Hancock got the virus.
The news in the last few days regarding the testing of NHS staff and provision of safety equipment in our hospitals is extremely worrying. At the height of the crisis our MP’s have started their Easter break early with Parliament only due to reconvene in three weeks time. It is vital Ministers and Health officials performances and decisions are scrutinised and questioned by MP’s. I have emailed my MP today demanding he requests a recall of Parliament immediately albeit using video links and other self isolating technology in order Ministers are cajoled and instructed to increase NHS testing quickly and intensely and to provide the necessary equipment in order to deal with this virus
Rant over! Stay well everyone

I am sorry to hear that, London really has taken a big hit with this virus, I live in Cambridgeshire and have 2 brilliant hospitals within 50 mile radius, addenbrookes and Norwich but both have closed their doors to surgery
I was expecting to have a radical cystectomy but due to needing an intensive care bed mine was cancelled
My consultant has offered me chemoradiotheropy to kill off the cancer to buy me time, but surgery is my only hope of long term management
I hope you don't have to wait too long before you get sorted, it's so distressing waiting and not knowing
Thank you I hope your wait is not too long keep well
Unfortunately I have been told it could be 18months or more, hence the chemoradiotheropy to buy me that time, I will be having 3 monthly cystoscopy to keep an eye on it and turbt if needed, it is indeed a very worrying time
We all have to stay strong to get through this
Hi,I really feel for anyone in this horrible situation of waiting for surgery. If you can concentrate on taking this time to get as fit as possible this will help.My cystectomy was done urgently due to an aggressive and rarer type of cancer so I had little time to get fit.I also underestimated just how slow the recovery period can be.It’s 6 months since the surgery and I’m still struggling with fatigue. You will undoubtedly lose weight after cystectomy so this is something else to consider if you are underweight pre surgery. If you are feeling well enough to eat well, sleep well and take plenty of exercise pre op you will give yourself the best chance of getting through the surgery.Love and best wishes to all.Jane xx
I agree, it's a tough time for us all wether it's major surgery or a simpler surgery, if it is now cancelled we have to play the waiting game, it is distressing but totally out of our hands, we can but hope this virus is contained soon and we can get back on track
I had my RC at Addenbrookes, they certainly are a great team there, but I expect their hands are tied at the moment. I work there in a different department, but am on the bank so laid off as a non essential clinic. My colleagues are working from home.
New Labour leader Keir Starmer just been on the news saying there should be stronger measures in place to make people stay at home. Yet, there he is, sitting in a TV studio and not at home.
Yes that’s not good example they are all as bad as each other Trump says wear a face mask but I am not wearing one BJ do not shake hands and then filmed shaking hands ...is it me or are the latest set of politicians a lot worse than in other decades..
Appears Scotland Chief Medical Officer also ignoring her own advice to stay at home instead visiting her second home in fife, oh dear !
