Hi All. How is everyone doing? Anyone stuck indoors? Remember, this is a support group, and things don't always need to be medical. There is usually someone here if you just want a chat, a moan, or any stories. My wife has been stocking up on paint, so guess what I will be doing in the near future. Best wishes.

  • Hi Ian,Good to hear you have got your pre op date after all the hassle.Roasting here I’ve brought down a heavy box of mum’s papers to sort as it’s a job I have been putting off for too long.Jane

  • Roasting here too, car said 28 when we went for next door lass from school. Otherwise lurking inside with all rear [south facing] blinds closed and windows and doors shut. Thus 24 inside which is a lot more bearable personally speaking.

Off to out the kettle on, four o'clock, time to rehydrate..

  • Yesterday I forced myself to do something useful rather than just quietly contemplating the growing list of things that need doing. First task was to clear my car's luggage area of stuff removed from my other older car a year ago before it went to the recycling yard. Now I should have stacks of room for the shopping! Next task was to relieve the pressure in my filing cabinet so that more current paperwork could be filed instead of scattered around the house. About 2 inches of old bank statements were therefore removed. Shredding was too slow. I looked at my fireplace but the chimney was sooty so I went outside and burned them in my dustbin type garden incinerator, a little at a time. I had a quite large pile of garden waste (woody stuff) which was too awkward to shove in the green bin and too messy to put in my car to take to the recycling yard. I tentatively added bit by bit of the very dry twiggy waste to the incinerator to see if it would burn with little or no smoke. It was fine. I had a hose ready in case of the unexpected. 3 hours later, paperwork and garden waste all burned, I went back indoors after thoroughly hosing the incinerator. I noticed that 3 hours outside in the heat without drinking any water had turned my output strongly orange. Extra water sorted that out in 45 minutes. Apart from my clothing smelling of wood smoke, it was  satisfying to have actually done something even when I did not really feel like it. Today I'm resting Relieved.

  • Hi

Pretty happy, although I suspect that I'd fallen through the cracks again knowing UCH. Anyway, things are moving on, but I'm not looking forward to the heat in London on Monday.

Off to the beach with the grandkids for an early evening swim.

  • I'm sorry to hear about your problems with UCH. I've always found them OK, and not just Urology/oncology  - I've been referred out to haematology, cardiology and vascular plus occasional others in the past three years and they've done OK too.

I use the Mycare system a lot and do keep checking on progress. I find CNSs often move things along for me, as well as my 2 main cancer consultants who will drop others a line if they think they need it. Haven't yet needed PALS but will bear them in mind for the future.

Good luck with the preop. I shall think of you at Westmoreland St.

    All the best,

  • Hi

I am Euston this time, which is slightly easier for me to get to than Westmorland.

Never had problems with the CSNs, or the level of care, but the admin at UCH has been a nightmare in the past. On one occasion they got my records crossed with someone else and I got a call asking for a bladder flow test when I didn't have a bladder. On another occasion they made me an appointment for a clinic I had never attended and it took me ages to convince them they made a mistake.

    Anyway, moving on.
