My wife's breast cancer has metastasized to her bladder, resulting in her having a nephrostomy bag procedure yesterday.
Has anyone any advice how to care and managing with it?
Uncertain if it will be permanent at this stage.
I didn’t find it needs much care, but if your wife gets a sudden pain on that side check the tube , it has a tendency to kink, unscrew the bag and straighten the tube as it blocks the urine coming out. To avoid this I found it’s better to have the underwear on top of the tube as it keeps it in place and stop it from rolling .Change the dressing around the puncture when it looks like it needs it , and keep it dry in the shower.Just strap it to her leg with the tube running down her hip not backside and wear loose clothing, it’s not as bad as some might think .Nighttime might take some getting used to it, depending on your wife , she sleeps on her back /side etc
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
