Hi All. How is everyone doing? Anyone stuck indoors? Remember, this is a support group, and things don't always need to be medical. There is usually someone here if you just want a chat, a moan, or any stories. My wife has been stocking up on paint, so guess what I will be doing in the near future. Best wishes.
Hi Liza25 , I havent had a cystectomy myself, but know it is something I may face in the future. There are many on here that have given some really good practical advice regarding going to hospital , what to wear, eat and your post op journey. I am sure someone will be happy to share. You have some time to prepare , I hope the anxiety quietens and you can spend time building your strength before surgery. Everyone on here will be with you Liza25, take care
Much love Angela x
Thanks. I had to rewrite most of my profile off-line, then copied and pasted odd retrieved bits before pasting it back on here. The software still seems very flaky and a few of the controls don't work e.g. the green block arrows to advance or go back a page on a particular thread can only manage about three operations before becoming unresponsive. Anyway, minor glitches in the grand scheme of things .
I hope everyone is coping with the heat. My new double glazing is keeping too much of it in at night. The old windows were nice and draughty even when closed. I've opened all of the little vents but may have to open windows and let the bugs in.
So much I could ask Jane!
How long did it take you to recover?
How easy or difficult has it been to get used to a stoma and using a bag? Also im so concerned about how it may impact my life as im pretty active and also live alone (with my dog) with little support so any advice or tips to do so would be so welcome xx
Hi Liza,I’ve just written a long post to hopeful you may find helpful.I felt very much better at the end of month 3 but it was 8 months before I went back to work as a full time carer for my late disabled mum.I haven’t had any problems adjusting to the stoma. You will get back to an active life.I decorated the bathroom after 3 months and was back to light gardening then xx
