Mitomycin

Evening Harry. Many of us have had last minute cancellations for various treatments, so know how deflating it can be. We have had shortages of BCG over the years, but this is the first time I have heard of a shortage of MMC. I hope they stock up soon and get you on your way. Best wishes.

Hi Harry, sorry to hear this, how frustrating for you. I wonder if this is connected  to America’s BCG shortage. I have read that in US many patients are being switched to  mitomycin as an alternative. Hope you get some positive news soon. x

After the hospital phone call I phoned up a cancer group I belong to to see If i could change my day to  go from Thursday back to Tuesday was told sure ...the place is called Shalom house in St Davids Pembrokeshire  W wales I have been going for about 5 months 1 day a week  most days 6 or 7 cancer patients go and are looked after 4 or 5 staff we have cooked  lunch  with them tea and cake in the mornings, well hot drinks anytime some have a bath  of shower  most of us have a foot spa  We are well looked after its a great day out all feel well pampered.  Lots of other fun stuff Fridays is for small local trips and other things .Its a charity run place I always give a small donation for lunch Well go home feeling so much better ...cheers harry

The place you visit for your pampering (lol)  sounds great, wish I could find a place like that especially as the shower is not working.  Will get it sorted soon but now I have to stand in the bath as these days cannot get out of the bath if I have a soak which I miss

What a shame you haven’t been able to start you Mitomycin treatment. I had mine in July and no problems then. Let’s hope it’s resolved for you very soon. It’s lovely that you have somewhere to go to take your mind off things.

It now seems as there is a definite shortage of Mitomycin as the major supplier has recalled all products. Medics are looking at alternative treatments. More information HERE . There is a link on that page with further info. Best wishes.
