My 1st TURBT op was done under spinal anaesthetic Feb 2018 it was okay .But this Feb it failed to work so had a general in June my 3rd was done with a general anaesthetic. Think  I would rather have a general the time seems to go faster when I was asleep Slight smile.Anyone else think the same ?? cheers harry

  • Hi Harry . I have only had GAs and I think I would prefer that any time. Quick needle in the back of the hand and the next thing you wake up to tea and toast. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

I had a spinal to have a lesion removed from my bladder. The nurse put some music on her smartphone. No pain. Time  went quite  quickly. Cannot have GA because of bronchiectasis and strokes.

  • I had epidural for pain relief after RC & it wasn't wholly effective. I think for TURBT I'd prefer not to be aware what they're doing, although I don't like the after effects of GA.

  • I've only ever had GA, although over the years I've seriously considered the spinal & very nearly had it one time.  However, I decided against it as they said that it would take longer.  Plus I feel that I've know the uro far too long to be able to look him in the eye with legs in stirrups ...  I wouldn't mind giving it a try myself though to see what they're up to whilst I'm asleep.  Knowing me I'd keep asking what they were doing & to hurry up Blush. I'd be interested to know what the differences are though.
