Despite 2 courses of different antibiotics, I still have leukocytes in my urine, bloating and dull ache in my abdomen. What's going on? Last urine sample sent to lab after dipping. Told there was 'no significant growth'. What does that mean? Now being told just to drink lots of water which I already do. Now 10 weeks post first TURBT and waiting for flexible cystoscopy appointment. Getting a wee bit anxious. Don't want to phone CNS again if I'm being OTT.
Hello plantaholic1
If you think you should contact your CNS, then you should. We have been conditioned into thinking we don't want to be a nuisance for perceived minor ailments, however, if you don't fight your corner, nobody will.
Clearly, something is awry so please get on the phone and be a nuisance for your health's sake.
I hope you get your next appointment soon. Be a nuisance to jump the queue, phone the appointments office daily.

I may appear to be listening but in my head I'm all at sea.
Hi, totally agree with other reply, also, given you have had several antibiotics, check with your pharmacist and if OK get some top class 'probiotics'-gut friendly bacteria capsules. Your stomach acid is supposed to 'kill germs on contact ' like the bleach advert and doesn't know good and bad bacteria apart. So capsules are important that withstand the acid and dissolve slowly to release the bacteria where they're needed, lower down beyond your stomach to replace any killed off by the antibiotics. As the good bugs are quite important in nutrition, this does matter. Obviously what's in your urine is probably not to do with your gut, but bloating and ache could be, might as well try the capsules, as I say, if pharmacist says no reason why not.
Re 'no significant growth' according to a radio 4 report I heard, many older people test positive for bacteria in urine without actually having a urinary tract infection, so it could be that.
Best,
Denby
Hi Plantaholic 1,
Sorry to hear that you are still not feeling well so long after your TURBT.
After my last TURBT I had some problems and also had leukocytes in my urine a few weeks after the procedure. The hospital sent a sample off for analysis but as no germs grew on the culture, apparently no infection.
I was told leukocytes are also a sign of inflammation which is understandable when your bladder has been messed with.
i agree with the previous replies, contact your CNS, you are understandably worried and they should be able to help.
All the best
Luce
