Admitted to hospital 6 weeks ago with abdominal pain which had been going on for 2 weeks. So spent 3 weeks in hospital & have now been home for 3 weeks. First diagnosed in hospital with kidney failure . Down to 10 %. Had an emergency nephrostomy on both kidneys. Both kidneys back to 90% thank goodness. Next cystoscopy, MRI & CT scans. Then meeting with consultant. Cancer is inoperable as advanced to lymph nodes. Now waiting on oncology to see about radiation & chemo. Now I had no signs previous to all this & was a very fit 58 year old male. All in 6 weeks. Only thing is severe pelvic pain & bowel incontinence. Also we are looking at months rather than years unfortunately. Now I realize I have what I have. just wondering about the pelvic pain & if anyone else is unfortunate enough to have inoperable bladder cancer & advanced to lymph nodes ?
Hi and welcome to the group although sorry to hear the reason you find yourself here. Things seem to have progressed rapidly for you. That's the problem with this thing in that it can present few symptoms early on. I can't offer any practical advice, but there is always someone here to talk to if need be. I had chemo and radiotherapy and so when you come to it, I may be able to give you some insight in to what to expect. Wishing you well. Best wishes.
I also have bladder cancer which has spread to lymph nodes, liver and lungs. Completed 8 cycles of chemotherapy. 2 CT scans after 3rd and 8th cycles showed that all tumours have shrunk. Only side effects have been fatigue and hiccups. Hope you have good response to treatment. Do not hesitate to contact your dedicated nurse or oncologist about any concerns you have. The staff at Leicester Royal have been fantastic and so caring. I have found maintaining a positive attitude very helpful, although others find things difficult. This site is very helpful. Many folks with experience of cancer who will share experiences and offer advice.
Sending love and best wishes. Hoping radiation and chemo will help. xxx
