Feeling apprehensive, just been given a date of 8th August for my op, have to go in 3 days before hand because I'm on warfein, it's a worrying time for anyone who has had a diagnosis of the "C" word but we can take a lot of comfort in the fact that we are not alone x
Hi Andy. I assume this is your TURBT to remove your tumour. Generally a straightforward procedure and it looks like they are taking special care of you because of the warfarin. Always a worrying time, but hopefully all should go well for you. Wishing you all the best.
Hi Andy, You are so right about the enormous comfort of knowing we are not alone. We had just moved house to a totally new area when my husband got his diagnosis. We had followed one daughter over 100 miles to help with childminding but left behind our single daughter and 40 years of knowing and being known by everyone in the neighbourhood. The hospital offered us no more support than one Macmillan booklet. Thank heavens for that as it led me eventually to here, such a support. So do keep us posted as to how it all goes as we are all rooting for you. I'd suggest lots of your favourite distractions, books, magazines, music etc if you have got 3 days largely hanging around to come before next Thursday. Sorting out plenty will give you something to do in the meantime, and if you find nice people to chat to and bring most of it home unread so much the better! My old GP recommended Robinson's Lemon Barley Water, suitably diluted, as the ideal bladder flush-through so a bottle of that might come in handy too.
With very best wishes,
Denby
Hi Andy, I had a TURBT op 2 weeks ago. Never had any op before so was very nervous. They put a canula into my hand and said they would then take me into theatre. Next thing I remember was being told to wake up. Couldn't believe I had been done.
Post op is ok too, had a catheter in. I am on Apixaban , a more modern version of warfarin, and stopped these 2 days before op and since. Just took a little longer to stop bleeding but all ok.
Best of luck.
John
Hi Denby, yes, the support and advice on here is excellent, so many people with good sound advice, iv already bought a book!!! Im not a reader really but im going in on Monday so that they can sort out my bloods, so 3 days before the op im in!!, thanks for your reply and advice, hope your husband is ok now
Hi Foxbrush, they are admitting me on Monday into hospital, this warfarin is a real pain, everything seems to be effecting it, i guess they need to sort it out before my op. I went into Hospital about 3 years ago for my appendix, ended up 3 days in intensive care because i was bleeding internally, Hopefully all will be ok, hope your on the road to recovery
Hi Andy,I hope that your procedure goes smoothly and your recovery is as pain free as possible.Best wishes Jane
Thank you so much Andy, yes, regular readers on here will know that BCG didn't work for him but despite difficulties giving it, the Mitomycin did work so he now has a 3-month all-clear. We are off to a jazz festival shortly , hope you'll be able soon to plan something to look forward to tho for us and many it can be some months.
