Hi Everyone
Having had a year of clear cystoscopies it was a blow to be told my husband is showing radiation damage this time. He has no symptoms at the moment but I wondered if anyone else has experienced this. The next appointment is in 4 months. Should we be worried?
Hi Mo600. It depends what they mean by damage. Radiation does leave burn marks on the bladder lining and can take a while to fade. I had mine over five years ago and can still see the marks at each cystoscopy. Never caused me any problems. Occasionally, an inexperienced doctor doing the cystoscopies have though the marks were the sign of a recurrence, but have always turned out to be false alarms. If he is having no problems, I wouldn't worry. Best wishes.
