Hi my husband has recently been diagnosed with stage 3 bladder cancer, he has had his op to remove the tumour and they now going to start treatment of immunotherapy I am just after some advise with regards to all this on his behalf we don’t really understand anything at present thank you
Hi and welcome to the community and our corner of it. Sorry to hear your husband has bladder cancer, bit be aware, it can be treated successfully. Immunotherapy treatment is usually a course of BCG treatment. This is a mild form of the TB vaccine and is instilled in to the bladder over a number of weeks, usually 6 to start. People have different reactions to it. Some have little side effects, while others find it difficult. You can read more about the treatment on the Mac pages HERE .Could I ask to check if it is grade 3 rather than stage 3 as this treatment is not usually used for stage3. Best wishes.
Hi again . Just to clarify. We are usually given a stage and a grade. The stage (T) is how far things have progressed and the grade (G) is the type of abnormal cells. It can be really confusing in the early days. The information we are given from the doctors tend to become blurred as soon as we walk out. It does get better though as time goes on and we tend to understand things a bit more. Best wishes.
