Had a follow up meeting with the consultant after my 2nd TURBT. He said histology is telling hom low grade non invasive. However both consultants I have seen are saying theres something on the CT scan that they are not sure of so I have to have a MRI.
Hi Pursy. as you probably know, an MRI scan is far more detailed than the general CT body scan and can focus on a specific area. To put a positive spin on something negative, if there is something there, it has been identified and can be dealt with. Hopefully it will be a false alarm. Keep us posted. Best wishes.
Following my MRI scan On the 16th July I heard nothing so after 3 weeks I rang my nurse and consultants secretary. Had a phone call on the Wednesday to see if I could attend a pre med on the 22nd August and an operation on the 29th. Pre med went ok so Thursday will soon be here, not much time to dwell on things that’s for sure. All I have heard from the nurse is that it’s another TURBT and they will have the MRI scan images to know where to pinpoint.
So glad you triggered your team into action. Last doc I saw said surgery within 31 days after diagnosis is guidelines, and my next TURBT will be just inside those recommendations. My theory (based only on supposition) is if system appears to be acting slowly it usually means they are not too worried (though they should still work to NICE guidelines) NHS has its stresses and strains but it is generally quick to respond to really bad news. My fingers are crossed for you on 29th and you wake up to tea and biscuits with a smile. xxx
Hi pursy, well done for chasing it up . It's mentioned on here that we have to do that so many times which is unfortunate.
Good luck hope all goes well.
Hi Pursy,
Good luck for Thursday, hope it all goes well.

Typing this awake at 2.40am after my 3rd TURBT. Consultant said before the op that he would be concentrating on 1 area that showed up on the MRI and he would be going in deep. A possible 48hrs on a catheter. A post op chat and he said he thought the bladder was probably now clear but there was something in the urethra that would probably require laser as an outpatient, he also mentioned a stent. As far as I can tell my urine has been clear so Im hoping I will be kicked out early. Any idea what his diagnosis involves.
Morning . Sounds like a bit of a sleepless night. Are you still in hospital? They usually let you out when you can pee freely on your own without the catheter. Your consultant believes he has got it all. Time now for some rest and recuperation and they will probably have you back for another look to see how things are. Never had a stent so can't help with that.Take it easy for a while. Best wishes.
