Hi all
Since I last posted I have had my TURBT and got my results. The nurse phoned to say that it was good news and the growth was an inverted papilloma. They asked for a second opinion as apparently this is extremely rare and is benign. She couldnt really say much else other than to say I will still have a check flexi in a couple of months. I confess that I looked at Dr Google to find out more, and there is not much info other than medical papers that seem to contradict each other. The only things that they seem to agree on were that less than 1% of bladder tumours are these and that they are considered benign. Has anyone else had one of these tumours?
I have an ultrasound tomorrow of my pelvis, as the CT scan showed a cyst on my ovary, fingers crossed for another positive result!!

Hi Berrywood. It does sound like good news. Not really heard much about this before, but a after a quick read it does sound very rare. There are some old posts here with the same, but the posters never came back with any long term results which is probably a good sign. Good luck with your scan. I hope it all goes well. Best wishes.
Had a flexible cystoscopy on 5th Sept and polyp found on diverticulum which they say is either an inverted papilloma of early papillary cancer.
Had biopsy on 16th and get results in two months time.. Had external beam radiotherapy for prostrate cancer in August 2018 and am told these problems are common after radiotherapy.
If this does turn out to be cancer, what is the treatment?
Thanks,
Biltong.
HI and welcome to the group. Sorry to hear you have something more to deal with following your earlier experience. The usual first step is a procedure called a TURBT. Similar to your cystoscopy, but done with a rigid scope under GA. Usually done in day surgery or maybe an overnight. Any abnormal cells will be scraped away and a biopsy sent for testing to determine if cancer or not. The results of the biopsy determine if any further treatment is needed. Whether the diverticulum will complicate things I am unsure. There are different avenues of further treatment if needed and all depends on what they find. Best wishes.
Hi Rily. Thanks for your reply. I had the TURBT on Monday the 16th and overnight stay. Go back for the results in 2 months time, but back to urology on 10th October for more tests.
As you say, it all depends on what they have found. Once again thanks for your response.
Biltong.
Hi . If you have had your TURBT, then sometimes they follow up with another one. This time it is just a mopping up exercise and not as bad as the original. It could just be a flexible cysto to have a look at how things are. Also possibly a scan. It is a one step at a time procedure and the waiting is always the worst. Just something to make you aware of if they did not tell you. After about 10days or so, the scab on the wound starts to break away and passes as blood or clots. This is normal, but if you are not expecting it, it can give you a shock. Plenty of water to keep things flushed out. Best wishes.
Well . We like hearing good news here, but that is great news. You must be delighted. Really pleased for you. Best wishes going forward.
Hi biltong, no-one could have blamed you if you had kissed the doctor! That is the best news ever congratulations.
