After 12 bcg sessions and being in the clear the latest flexible cystoscopy showed 2 abnormalities. One I can only describe as looking like a piece of tripe glued inside my bladder and also a red patch. These were previously thought to be a reaction to the immunotherapy but the latest urine cytology revealed some cancer cells. Incidentally my CIS has not been muscle invasive.
I’ve just had a biopsy and I assume the areas were cauterised. Before this I was suffering persistent UTIs and dark urine, but since the biopsies all this has stopped. I’m not losing weight and feel fine, but in a state of limbo awaiting the biopsy results and the comments of the multi disciplinary team.
I am lucky enough to have treatment at Addenbrookes and cannot fault them. It’s just coming up to 3 weeks and so I expect to hear anytime soon.
Best case scenario will be just a few stray cancer cells with continuation of BCG. However, I am psyching myself up for further TURBT, chemo or even bladder removal.
Sorryy to ramble on, but just felt I needed to unload to you good people with sympathetic ears.
Thank you for listening
Hi BDB1 . Sorry to hear you may have a recurrence and are now in limbo waiting for results. Many of us will be familiar with the stress of waiting. Although I am clear at the moment I have had several false alarms over the years with suspicious patches and know how you feel. I hope you get some positive news when you get your results. Best wishes.
