Not to long ago I had a spot of blood round my Stoma, I did ask for advice on this support group and as was advised was pretty common and not much to worry about! I did get a CT Scan and came back Satisfactory no disease recurrence

Next thing the Hospital got in touch with me making arrangements for a outpatient Procedure for a Flexible Cystoscopy for the Urethra! After reading about this procedure It did scare me a bit as it looks very uncomfortable

Has anyone eles had Flexible Cystoscopy

Also has anyone else had a prolapse after Bladder removal,  I know it doesn't rain but it pores

  • Hello Anya, I can only comment on the flexible cystoscopy. It is usually a very straightforward procedure which takes 5-15 minutes of discomfort. Dignity goes out of the window, as with many medical procedures. A local anaesthetic gel is used which helps to minimise sensation and it also helps to prevent infection. If you've ever had a urethral catheter, it shares many similarities to having one of those put in and removed. Most often you just arrive, are asked to get undressed and to wear a robe, maybe have a basic health check e.g. blood pressure, have the procedure, then are allowed to go home. The doctor or consultant performing the procedure will sometimes ask you if you would like to see the screen but I've never wanted to see what they are looking at ! Results generally become available within 1-3 weeks. Best wishes for the test which will hopefully give a better idea about the treatment path, if required, addressing your other concerns.  Ray

  • Thank You Ray, Yes I remember having urethral catheter over night after having a turp , I was relieved to have it removed
