Hi everyone.
So after our weird meeting with the oncologists registrar and him giving us the not so good news that I have secondary cancer in the lymph nodes in my pelvis area left side.
He asked any changes ? And at that time it was mild swelling in my left leg mainly thigh. Tight and warmth to it but achy...this has now progressed into the whole leg being swollen and finding it difficult to walk
They are suspecting it is from the cancer mass pressing on the nodes , causing pain and swelling but. Could also be a DVt . Was at new cross yesterday 7 hour wait for assessment and 2 apixaban and a script for 4 more and a booked scan for Tuesday at 4pm
Arrives at 4pm and waits until 5.30 pm to be told the radiographers go home at 5pm so they need to rebook for tomorrow at 9am !!!
Not the way I wanted to spend my last holiday dates being fobbed off .
Fingers crossed it's not a DVT and something will be done.
Radiotherapy starts soon and all I can do is hope x
Not feeling that confident of treatment going forward if I'm honest.
Dear Podperson,
I hope that you have now had the scan. After a scan, I often get a disk with my scans on them because if there is anything worrying I can then get a second opinion and compare any changes from last time. My hospital scan admin do the copying as routine and for free. And, as I'd forgotten the last couple of times I got them to do those as well for me - no problem.
I'm willing to pay for a 2nd opinion if I am worried, but you can get them on the NHS too.
Hopefully it turns out to be something easily dealt with.
By the way, I developed a clot actually in my lung at one point but the blood thinners did their job and it dissolved enough to let them remove the bladder. But hopefully they are just being cautious with you about the DVT.
Good luck with everything including the radiotherapy and Happy New Year.
Latestart x
Hi Podperson,
I hope you've had your scan now and all is OK. Just popping on to say that I was in a very similar situation back in August. No DVT found but since then I have had a DVT in the groin. Was put on Arovi injections for two weeks and now taking apixiban. All swelling and uncomfortable aches have now gone just four weeks later. I hope this helps x
