Hello, hope you’re all doing well. My mum was diagnosed with T1G3 bladder cancer in September after TURBT (they found a small 2cm tumor that appeared superficial and a smaller satellite lesion)- the samples did not contain muscle - so she had a repeat TURBT three weeks ago and they said results within 3 weeks, but she still hasn’t had anything through bar an appointment with specialist for December which would be 5-6 weeks after. Has anyone experienced this and know what it could mean or what we should do? When I asked the cancer nurse spiciest a while ago about timelines for each potential outcome she said the wait would be longer if muscle invasive as it would have to go to MDT, so as it’s taken so long I’m terrified it’s that. However, reading online, it says if they found muscle invasion they’d tell patient straight away even if it was before getting it into MDT as they would have to book in lots more scans and appointments. Any advice or experiences would be great. I’m losing my mind living in the constant turmoil of uncertainty. Thanks all.
Usually with the NHS bad news is not delayed. So the fact it's delayed would suggest better nees or at least no worse news.
That has been my experience with getting results from hospital.
So the fact it's taking 5 to 6 weeks to et results I would try not to overly worry. Easier said than done we all know.

I don't think the delay indicates the results being good or bad, more a symptom of the general problems in NHS these days. The results should have gone to MDT in either case, to discuss and advise most appropriate treatment (s). Yes, they might want some other tests done, but depending on the treatment chosen, there can be a delay to start that anyway. You may find even at the appt with the specialist that your Mum has choices to go away and think about. Many of us are familiar with that, so feel free to come back here and ask. Best wishes.
