I've had 15 infusions. Following the last infusion I have been left with a dull ache in the end of my penis prior to peeing and for 20/30secondes.
I have had my water tested for infection and it was clear and my PSA test was normal.
Has any one had a similar affect and does it get worse with the final 6 infusions next year?
Hi OliveTree,
Welcome to this friendly forum.
Do you mean BCG instillations? If so I have experienced this dull pain, especially soon after the BCG instillation.
I assume it was the catheter being inserted, but I've had/have chronic inflammation of the bladder.
Hopefully your symptoms will ease up during your break before the next cycle
Take care.
Trevor
Thank you. But this is a continuous pain 3 months after last treatment
Hi Olivetree
I've just had my 9th BCG instillation and have been having pain in my penis/urethra since my 6th. Mine are twinges and spikes of pain but they are always there. It turnes out that the treatment has left me with chronic cystitis. After making some enquiries with my nursing team it appears to be quite a common occurrence. My suggestion would be to talk to your team and see what they say.
Thank you for the information. The nurse said prior to my first infusion that some people do not finish the complete 3 years due to pain, but did not explain.
My next visit is the camera so I will ask then.
Hi Olive tree,
im in exactly the same boat as you…I had BCG #15 in September and it’s only now November that I can wee without wincing…
I also had my urine tested, my CNS told me it’s just one of those things that we have to deal with, unfortunately it may get worse after my next set but fingers crossed it doesn’t…
Thanks Rob. Up to my 15th infusion I had no problems . I always drink 6 pints of water afterwards. But since the 15th I am thinking of staying up all night and continue drinking. to thoroughly wash the system out. (as I am up 6/7 times peeing any way)
This is so helpful I'm around 4 weeks after number 18 BCG and it's still a matter of frequency, urgency up ten times a night pain and discomfort and debris in my urine. I'm even at the point of going to the GP tomorrow for some sort of relief. Oxybutin maybe.does seem to be par for course at this stage and it's a matter of digging in. At least I have the ashes to cheer me up.........
Hi Andy I watch Worcester Warriors to cheer me up! Thanks for the information. And best for the future.
