Has anyone here had to choose between cystoprostatectomy and bladder sparing. My husband was diagnosed with G3 questionable musle invasive bladder cancer. Turbt removed 99 per cent but since CPEX fitness test and MRI CT and PET scan consultant is now talking about bladder sparing as his fit test was borderline. We are still confused to what this means we know another TURBT is going to happen and another biopsy with more muscle tissue will now occur. My husband is 66 and has co morbidities such as heart disease ckd3 knee replacement and suffers with Gout.
Hi, welcome to the group. I'm female, so haven't had that decision, but hopefully others will be along who have been in a similar position..
With G3, a second TURBT is standard, to confirm if it is muscle invasive or not, as this will inform what treatment options are most suitable. Sounds as though the fitness test makes bladder removal too risky - I don't know if it's relevant to prostate removal. Once they have the second TURBT result, they should discuss what is possible, pros & cons, risks & benefits etc. They might offer immunotherapy or radio/chemotherapy, depending on the results. Best wishes to you both.
Sorry can't really help in your situation but sounds like you both have a lot going on so just to give you my well wishes really for both of you.
Not really sure much else I can say to help in anyway tbh.
Sure some people with better advice will be along to help you soon or offer advice.

Hi,Welcome to this friendly group.Once the second TURBT results are in your husband should get a much clearer idea of his options. These early days with tests and waiting for results are never easy.It usually becomes better mentally once you know the treatment plan.Best wishes.Jane
