Mild low ache a month after TURBT

Hi

It’s been a month after my TURBT and two weeks since my last CT scan (clear for growth) Recovery has been fine but now I’m feeling an ache low down (for the women, like a mild period ache)

Ive started to freak myself out thinking tumours are  growing again or have spread since the CT scan.  I know that surgeon cut quite deep (MIBC) so it may still be recovery. Has anyone else felt like this please?

thanks

  • Hi Lorna,It can take over a month to fully recover. It’s worth getting your urine tested for infection if the pain worsens or you get any other symptoms. They are quite common after this procedure.Jane x

  • Hi,

I've had 2 TURBTS, one with a chemo wash and 1 biopsy taken with a cystoscopy under general anesthetic, 2 courses of intravesical BCG immunotherapy since march this year. I've struggled with pains on and off all the way through. Did you have a chemo wash after your TURBT?

I found that I also experience pains like you've explained across my pelvis, hips and lower back, my back can feel awfully tight sometimes too. We've both got a lot going on down there at the moment, it takes a while for things to heal and just as it does there's more poking, prodding, procedures and treatments. I expect as it's been a month since your last procedure too that you're now moving about a lot more and lifting things again and it's irritating the bladder a bit.

Just take things slow, keep in touch with your GP who can help with pain medication and such like. Definitely keep an eye out that you don't have a UTI brewing! You've probably got a bit of inflammation going on from all the trauma.

I experience some quite dabilatating cramps and twisting pains along with the sickly dull ache and raw, hot feelings in my bladder, some of these symptoms are from where I had a hysterectomy a few years ago and I have scarring on the outside of my bladder, there's not much they can do except keep on top of medications for me and make sure I rest and take things easy.

Try not to panick my lovely! It's different for everyone, just keep in touch with your GP and clinical nurse specialist! They'll be able to help you through. And as you can see there's always peeps on this forum you can chat too as well!

I hope things settle down for you a bit before treatment, take care!
