Good morning My husband has been told he has to have a blood transfusion on Monday as he is still peeing blood 3 months after his tumour removal. He is saying he will drive to the hospital but I am wondering if it is advisable. Please can anyone let me know if it is OK for him to drive.
Hi floglow
Sorry to hear your husband is still in discomfort. I think that's a decision that you will need to decide yourselves. It maybe unwise to recommend driving and then something happens if you know what I mean. It may be preferable to take advice from the hospital pre transfusion
Best wishes
Mark
Heya FloGlow,
I think if he needs a transfusion he's probably feeling a little wobbly isn't he?
I think if it was me it would be best to maybe ask a friend for a lift as you don't know how he'll feel after either or take a taxi maybe, also if he feels out of sorts after you don't wanna have to abandon the car in an expensive hospital car park if you can't get back again
Tell him to enjoy getting chauffeured for once!
If in doubt I agree with everyone else and call the hospital for advice.
It is ultimately though I guess up to each person and how fit they physically feel.
Best of luck and I hope he feels better for it though.

thank you everyone for your kind replies. My husband had to have a blood test today in readiness for his transfusion on Monday and we asked the Nurse if it was ok for him to drive afterwards. She said "Absolutely, you will feel much better after having it than you do now". He has had 3 blood transfusions while he was in hospital and had no side effects so he will play it by ear and if he feels not capable of driving home will call for one of our family to help.
thank you again for all of your replies.
