Feeling rough

Hi guys!

I'm new here and are putting out the feelers and saying hi!

I was diagnosed with a high grade T1 or a T2 cancer about 6 weeks ago now.

I had a second turbt last week in the hopes they will get a proper diagnosis on how far developed it is as there was not enough tissue present when the initially removed the tumor to test.

I think they may have got the results as the hospital sent me a letter to say I've got a telephone appointment in 5 more weeks and to have a list of medication and a diary ready! It feels so far away! I'm feeling a bit low the last couple of days about it all, after initially being really positive through all the tests and surgeries which has caught me by suprise!

Plus I'm not sleeping through the night, keep waking up constantly, I'm on oramorph and patches as I'm still in lots of pain after the last surgery and generally feeling really rough!

I've suddenly started feeling sudden light headed spells, even when laying or sitting in bed?

Has anyone else felt like this?

I've got a check up in a couple of days with my cancer nurse at the GPS but I'm not sure if I should pursue help before then or if this is normal and to be expected?

Would really appreciate any info anyone can offer!

  • Hi Kitty.cs,

Welcome to our friendly group. I’m sorry to hear you are feeling rough and not sleeping well. Pain patches can affect sleep patterns specially when you change the patch. It’s possible that the medication and lack of sleep are contributing to feeling light headed. It’s advisable to mention this symptom  when you see your nurse. The stress of waiting for results won’t be helping. I’m surprised you have not been offered a face to face appointment. Are you drinking plenty of fluids ? We should have shares in Lemon barley water on here as most of find it helpful. A hot water bottle is a comfort for bladder pain. People tend to feel better mentally once all the results are in and they have a plan for treatment. I hope you find it supportive here, we are all here to help.

    Best wishes Jane

  • Hi winkers60,

Thankyou for the reply and the tips!

I've been drinking lots of squash and water but I'll give the lemon barley a go too!

I'm surprised too I've only got a telephone appointment for what I believe to be my second set of results and possibly treatment booking? I'm glad I've got a couple of appointments in between with my CNS and a really lovely GP who's been dealing with my medications for the last few months right from the start. I've been in a lot of pain for around 3 months now and they don't know why plus then if course having two surgeries on top it's been a rough ride!

I've at least got an appointment in 2 days now so I'll definitely be questioning about the dizzy spells!

    Thankyou for all the support!

It's great to know you guys are out there and also that I can be there for others in the future.

    Happy Easter peeps!

  • It’s good to hear you have a lovely gp.I think most on here saw the consultant face to face for the biopsy results but things have changed since the pandemic. There are so many more phone appointments now.I met my cancer nurse and got the diagnosis and treatment plan from the consultant all on the same day.Happy Easter.Jane

  • Ah okay!

Maybe one of my upcoming appointments in the next two weeks will have the information?

    Fingers crossed!

    Thanks!!

  • Biopsy result times do vary but fingers crossed that one of your appointments will give you answers. They should tell you the type, grade and stage of the cancer and what can be done to treat it.
