Hi i'm about to go ahead with my third round of chemo for bladder cancer. I've been lucky and not had any of what I was told could be the normal side effects but I seem to be feeling constantly tired and with cold like symptoms. Just wondering if others have had the same experience. Thanks Robin
Hi Robin, welcome to this lovely forum.
I havent had chemo myself ( I am on BCG for high grade non invasive bladder cancer) , but there are others on the site that are currently on chemo and i am sure they will be along soon to help with your question. Best wishes to you on your treatment
Much love Angela x
Hi Robin and a welcome from me. It is normal for chemo to have these effects on the body. what type of chemo ? Is it directly in to the bladder or vein? I had 6 weeks of Gem/Cis and other than some tiredness I tolerated it quite well, but we do see people here who struggle to get through it. There is always a chance of infection as your resistance is low, so might be worth getting as sample tested. Always let your nurses know how you are feeling. In the meantime stay well hydrated. Best wishes.
Hi robin yes had mine yesterday. Does make you tied. More you have more tied. I have a slight pain in front of my head. A woke up with roses cheeks. An warm. Once I took steroids. I felt much better in my self. Another chemo Friday. Hope this helps best wishes
Hi Robin,
I had 4 rounds of Gem/Cis prior to cystectomy. Main side effects were gradually increasing tiredness, constipation - stopped taking the ant-sickness pills they give while having the chemo plus a rash all over my trunk - they equalled out the two ingredients for the remaining rounds and I took a week of steroids from the GP and that fixed it. I had thinning hair but that came back soon after stopping it. and I was found to be lacking potassium (I think so had some tablets for that and got more energy as a result. The cold-like symptoms might possibly be allergy - I should mention it when you see the oncologist
