Diagnosis day

Hi all

Well today was the day that I was told what diagnosis I had. I thought I may not get away lightly but oh boy!

My consultant basically said that I had muscle invasive bladder cancer that has penetrated the fat and is also in my abdominal lymph nodes. No RC, can't be done straight to chemo radiotherapy.

I am now waiting for oncology to decide if I need another TURBT before commencing treatment.

He seemed a little shocked at a 50 yo female, no previous health history to be where we are. I had a scan in November that was clear.

Just had a letter on my app detailing the cancer.

G3 (HG) pT2 TCC bladder cancer.

So, on to the next job. At least we know what we are dealing with.

Any words of wisdom for me?

Thanks again for all of your helpful responses and support

  • Hi  . Not the news you were hoping for. Bit of a blow but they will work out a plan going forward for you. Early days yet, but once you see an oncologist you will know what you are heading for. It will take a while to sink in. If its any help, I was T3pG3 in to the fatty outer layer. I went through the chemo/ chemoradiotherapy and tolerated it well. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Thanks Rily

That is just what I needed to hear!

Big girl pants on and getting things done now.

  • Hello Nananaps, I concur with everything Rily has said. I had chemotherapy then chemo radiotherapy which was fairly easy to tolerate. Good luck, stay well. Garviv

  • Hi Garviv

Thanks also, the feeling of not being alone here makes such a difference.

Talking to family and friends is lovely but I feel very protective of them and try not to let the vulnerable side be seen.

I really do appreciate the replies

  • Agree with   wise words. Not the news you wanted to hear, but you know what you are up against and get cracking with your tx plan. Wishing you positive vibrations, Leo

  • You sound amazingly positive, having had something of a shock with that diagnosis. At least you know what you are dealing with AND have a treatment plan. Hope all goes smoothly for you.

  • I think it is very important especially with your family to tell them how you feel:  Frightened, frustrated, angry etc they will understand and support you more. Garviv

  • Thanks Leo

    Really appreciate it

  • Thanks Teasswill

One step further forward than yesterday hey!

  • I completely agree, they are extremely supportive but it's normally me that holds everyone together, fixes things when they break. I find it hard being the vulnerable one I think I am trying to say.
