Hello everyone,
I would like to share my experience regarding a recent health journey. In August, I underwent a cystoscopy, during which doctors identified a cancer cluster in my bladder. Following this, I had surgery in October to remove the growth. The pathology report indicated that I have type three cancer; however, I found this terminology quite confusing and struggled to fully understand its implications.
Since the surgery, I have had additional blood tests, which revealed a PSA level of 17. The consultant has recommended further investigations, and I have booked an appointment for March to discuss my results.
Post-surgery, I have been experiencing significant pain in the bladder area. The discomfort is intense and can feel debilitating, akin to a severe kick in the groin, which often leaves me incapacitated for hours. I have several pre-existing medical conditions that may have contributed to the development of cancer, and currently, I am on multiple medications, including fentanyl patches, to manage my pain.
However, the persistent bladder pain continues to be a major concern. I would appreciate any advice or recommendations on how to alleviate this discomfort.
Hello Ianbuk and welcome to the group although sorry to hear you are still in a lot of discomfort following your surgery. Post op pain is not uncommon following a TURBT and some people suffer longer than others, but it is always wise to check with your team. Have you been allocated a CNS who is always the best person to call? There is always the possibility of infection following a cystoscopy, so worth while getting a sample checked. Best wishes.
Ianbuk I would contact your specialist nurse 1st, and discuss with her. Another peek in your bladder may be required - cystoscopy, or maybe imaging - MRI or CT. Don’t just live with the pain, it’s several weeks since your op, and it should be checked out. They should check to ensure they have not inadvertently holed your bladder, it’s not uncommon. But let the clinical team investigate. Atb Leo
