Hi all! Just a quick question to those who have experience witb CIS? My lovely 67 year old dad has just found out he has a recurrence after only 3 months of finishing bcg for non muscle g3 pt1. He has now developed a g3 pta CIS growth (and will probably have to lose his bladder later this year). It seems that CIS is a lot more recurrent/aggressive to treat than T1 growths the prognosis/ life expectancy on google has made us all a little anxious about what this means for his future now. Has anyone had a similar experience with CIS? Thank you :)))
Hi Mari97 and welcome to the group although sorry to hear dad has a recurrence after such a short time. We know that CIS is particularly difficult to remove and has a high recurrence rate. Some people try and continue with further TURBTs but if your dad has to have bladder removal, then many here have been through it and some older than your dad. Try and stay away from Google as there is a lot misinformation and out of date stuff out there. Best wishes.
You can find all sorts of statistics (& I have been guilty of quoting some) but no-one can tell you your personal future, only the degree of risk. Your dad seems to have a treatment plan in place, all you can do is follow that and be hopeful. Just try to enjoy all the time you have together, without worrying for how long. Best wishes.
Hi Mari97. Welcome to our supportive and friendly group. I'm so sorry to hear that your lovely Dad has had a reoccurrence with CIS. I have not personally had a diagnosis of CIS, my diagnosis is the same as your Dad's original diagnosis G3 pT1 and I am also on BCG. The G3 is also high risk and a Cystectomy was discussed with me at my diagnosis but I did want to try BCG. Has your Dad had a meeting with his Consultant yet? And has it been to an MDT meeting? If your Dad has strong views on his treatment pathway then they should be taken into account at the MDT meeting.
Please stay in touch on the forum and ket us know how things progress.
Sending you all my best wishes and positivity for a good outcome.
Love Ade xx
