I had a tumour removed from my bladder 10 days ago , surgeon said it was cancer at the time, but now I'm home from hospital I have heard nothing from the hospital or consultant as to what's happening next? Has this happened to anyone?

  • Hi, If I were you I would contact the surgeon’s secretary and ask what happens next as you have heard nothing. Do you know if they did a biopsy when they removed the tumour? They could be waiting on the results, if you had one.

My husband had tumours removed from his bladder on 19/12/24 and we only got the biopsy results at the end of last week. Most of the labs have a backlog after being closed or taking emergencies only during the Festive Season so results are taking a bit longer. However I would still phone to make sure that is why the delay Good Luck

  • Thank you Annette x

    I will phone tomorrow x

  • Hi podperson

Anndanv is right it can take a few weeks for a biopsy to come through, I think I waited for about 2 weeks. I know it's an anxious time when waiting  on results. Hopefully they will determine the next stage for you and what other treatment you require if any.

This is a great forum for advice and support,  don't hesitate to ask any questions

    Best wishes

  • Hi Podperson,Welcome to this friendly group. It’s not easy waiting for results or to find out the next stage. It is common to have a second TURBT procedure a few weeks after the first. It’s usual to get a scan of some sort too.The results of the biopsies and scan will give the team an idea of what treatment you will need.Once you have a treatment plan things become easier. There is a lot of advice and experience here so ask any questions. We are all here to support you through.Best wishes Jane

  • Thanks to everyone who sent a message , calmed me down ..silly really I work in the NHS and I know the wheels grind slow, but it is different when it's happening to you. Thank you for your kind support x
