Today I feel really sick and in pain I was told by local hospital I have to have my bladder removed . But went to city hospital and met urologist who wants to do rigid cystoscopy 3rd one may I say as he wants to take a look for himself doesn't want to take his opinion from the scans and test I had at my local hospital .so now I'm thinking does he think there's a chance I might not have to have my bladder removed or am I being to optimistic.
It's possible that the new consultant may think differently, or may offer something different. However, I don't think you should be too hopeful. Be prepared to ask lots of questions so you fully understand the situation, risks & benefits, pros & cons of each option. Best wishes.
Different consultants have different views.
I was due to have my bladder removed following consultant visit. When he then referred me to the surgeon at another Trust, the surgeon advised that at my stage (G3T1 and 63 tears old) that it would likely be overkill and suggested I started on BCG with an option for removal if unsuccessful. Now after 15 BCG's with no recurrence, I am currently clear and still have the bladder. Annual checkups from now on as 15 installations is the standard at the new Trust.
