Hi. I was diagnosed with bladder cancer two years ago. My journey has been a bit up and down. To the extent I have asked my dr to refer me to a different hospital.  I would really appreciate some advice on where you’ve been treated and if you would recommend.   Thankyou.

  • Hi  . I think it would depend on  where you are located, but changing  hospitals could cause delays in  treatment. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Hi. Sorry I didn’t think to say where I am    I live in Halifax and use Calderdale and Kirklees.   My drs secretary is trying to rush me to make a decision but I have my next camera bkd at the beginning of January the last one showed something they are keeping an eye on so I don’t want to end up having a delay. I’m thinking I might be better just staying where I am. Even with the inconsistencies and having different consultants having different opinions on treatment plans. I was just hoping if I changed hospitals I might get one consultant with one point of view. But I know that is probably a gamble

  • Good Morning Rebecca12, what a dilemma! I would personally follow your GP’s advice. Bear in mind what Rily has said about treatment delays. Whatever decision you make has to be right for you. Good luck Garviv

  • Hi Rebecca

I would echo Rily’s comments; the grass isn’t always greener & there’s the obvious risk of delay in treatment if you were to transfer to a different health authority.

I was treated @ Bradford Royal Infirmary & received excellent care from my consultant.

Not sure if you’re aware, but there is an excellent face-to-face bladder cancer support network in Huddersfield. They meet every 2 months @ Briar Court Hotel 10.30am - next meeting is Tuesday 21st January 2025. Mr Bryan, one of the consultants at CHFT, attends these meetings and is always amenable in answering attendees queries.

I hope your treatment gets back on track soon.

    Best wishes

    Gareth
