Just over a year ago I started having a dull ache in left kidney. Wasn't painful as such just annoying had urine tested many times blood found no infection. I also have a neurological condition which apparently have neurogenic bladder.
Had CT scan last December which was on my kidneys but apparently no tumour found.
Long story short my gp got involved, and requested that I attend a 2 week urgent referral for cystoscopy which was done beg October, I was shocked as they found a tumour which was quite clear on the screen, registrar said he thought it was cancerous but obviously couldn't tell for sure.
Within 2 weeks TURBT completed with chemotherapy being put into bladder. Consultant said he had taken it out with a deeper wide sweep of the area, just now waiting on histology results to see what happens next.
I was advised that I would see blood for the first few days and have pain when passing urine for about a week.
My question is the pain which is quite bad at times when passing urine is quite bad. I dread going to the toilet, on researching this it states that this pain can last upto 4 weeks.
I don't quite know what to do whether to contact my gp or just leave it for a while longer. My husband wants me to go get checked.
Just looking for a bit of advice.
Hi craftybug welcome to the forum. If it was me I would want to speak to someone and to have them say to me that that can last for up to 4weeks as opposed to sitting worrying about that. Just pick up the phone and give the GP a call and if it gets really bad over the weekend then please consider giving 111 a call and seek their advice. X
Hi Craftybug, and a welcome from me. Pain when peeing usually can last up to a week or longer in some cases but should gradually subside as the days pass. If not getting any better, then take Granny59s advice. It is not uncommon to get an infection following a cystoscopy, so worth while dropping a sample to your GP surgery. Some pharmacies now do them on the spot. You could also phone the Mac support line on 0808 808 0000 (open till 8pm) . In the meantime, keep drinking plenty of water to lush things out and prevent blockages. Best wishes.
Hi Craftybug and welcome.
I think a call to the doctor and get your urine tested just in case as can happen to get an infection. Had a few myself from procedures.
Lots and lots of just water really does help . Whilst it is painful to go, the more fluid you have the easier it will get.
Best of luck
I endorse what others have said about drinking plenty. That will dilute urine and irritate bladder less. Taking paracetamol is OK too. Also it's worse if you tense up in anticipation, so if you have any favourite means of relaxing, try to incorporate that each time you visit the loo. I recall having frequency and pain for over a week, but it did gradually ease off. Hope you feel better soon.
Sorry to hear your having some bad pain, I had awful pain in my side when urintaing for the first 4 or 5 days. After that it settled down but I also had a stent put in which may have caused more pain. But they said blood could be present for up 7 or 8 weeks which surprised me, and at times seemed a lot of blood but again as they said that settled down as well.
Hope you are starting to have less pain mine was agony and I absolutely dreaded going to the toilet and drinking tons and going a lot. But as I said it lasted for 4 or 5 days or so. Then in week 6 ISH I started to get more pain again but that was my stent, as I should have had it out a week or 2 earlier but was away on holiday. Once I had the stent out the pain left immediately although that pain was nowhere as bad as after having the turbt initially.

Much love and hope to everyone past future and present.
I also hate autocorrect and hope people can make sense out of my posts when it changes half the words I type.
Thanks everyone. I am so pleased I joined.
Thankyou for the responses. It looks like an infection although borderline. On antibiotics.
I get my histology results today with knowing how to manage from now on. I also have a neurological condition which doesn't help matters. But I am a very positive person as my name describes. I do a lot of crafting to keep my mind occupied.
My husband bless him has anxiety issues and worries about me. I don't tell him everything as to how I feel as this can make him feel worse.
Xxx
