Advice for dad after surgery please

Hi,Your poor dad,I had vomiting and pain a few days after the op too.The bowels don’t like being handled and sometimes they don’t work properly after the anaesthetic.It sounds like this may be the reason your dad has had this setback.I was on fluids only and had a nasal gastric tube to help with the vomiting.If it is Ileus it is quite a common complication but hopefully it will settle and your dad will start perking up again.I hope he feels better soon.Let us know how he gets on and try not to worry the dr’s will keep a close eye on him.Love Jane xx

It is difficult to see a loved one in distress. Very early days yet and setbacks are common. I didn't manage a poo until 7 days post op & that was a small bullet after much effort. Not long after that, changed to urgent & loose - bowels can be very erratic & may be permanent changes in habit. Your Dad has done well to be eating, but sounds like his intestines weren't quite ready. Hopefully the medics will get it all sorted, along with pain relief. Hope he picks up again soon.
