Just some advice

Hello everyone, I'm new here but wanted some advice. I was recently diagnosed with a 2cm tumour on my bladder, the hospital got me in very quickly and the removed the tumour, a TURBT procedure and Intravesical Mitomcyin Instillation.

I was discharged after 2 days and was advised that the tumour was to be sent for a biopsy and they would contact me to discuss next steps.

This was over 4 weeks ago and I have heard nothing from the hospital, I did them a call and they said that I would be contacted as soon as the biopsy results are back.

Obviously I am extremely anxious about this and the waiting, I do have pain across my lower back, I am peeing frequently and do have some pain when I pee.

How long does it take for the hospital to contact after the procedure, is 4 weeks plus normal.

Any advice would be appreciated and extremely helpful.

Thank you

  • I had exactly same Size tumour as yours and it was 6 weeks before I sat down with the consultant to discuss next steps it can take upto 6 weeks seen others wait that amount of time so try not to read to much into the wait time it can be normal lots of helpful people on here your amongst good company

  • Hi Hay70,Welcome to our friendly group.I hope you get your results soon.Best wishes Jane

  • Hi,

The biopsy results are usually three weeks, but it can vary. If you have been allocated a Nurse I would try and contact them, mine are absolutely fantastic. If you don't a nurse you could try PALS (patient advocates) at your hospital.

Try not to get too anxious, I'm sure it will get resolved. No

It doesn't matter where you go, there you are
  • Thanks for all your replies, I do have a nurse, I left a message but not been contacted back yet.

Its the waiting thats the worst, hopefully I'll hear from them soon. It's good to know this forum is here.

  • We are also waiting for results and decisions as to what's next after TURBT... huge sympathies.

  • Hi,

Come on here anytime you need help, there's always someone to lend you an ear. Waiting never really gets easier, but you do learn to cope. Don't be a stranger.

  • Hi generally it seems to be if it's bad news you will hear a lot sooner than not so bad or good news.

So take it as good news you have not heard anything as yet.

But if you want more piece of mind call your doctors and see if they can look up the results on the system, that's how I found out my CT scan results out.

Much love and hope to everyone past future and present.

I also hate autocorrect and hope people can make sense out of my posts when it changes half the words I type.

  • Hi Hay70

Welcome to our friendly forum. Waiting for results is always hard. Hopefully you won't have to wait too much longer. Don't be alarmed if you have to have a second TURBT, these are done to confirm the Grade and Stage of the tumour. I continued to have pain and discomfort for 4 weeks after TURBTs.

Once you have all your results you will have a clearer idea of any treatment plan, then you will start to feel a bit better.

    Sending you hugs and positivity

    Love Ade xx

  • I feel so much better from coming on here and knowing I'm not alone, I'm going to give my GP a call tomorrow and see if they know anything and also call the oncology nurse.
